Instructions
Step 1
Run the Russification of the Ubuntu operating system to install the Russian language in Linux. Similarly, you can install any other language. To do this, go to the main menu, select the "System" option there, then "Administration" - "Localizations". This command launches the localization manager.
Step 2
Then select the option "Primary language", check the box next to the required language, for example, "Russian (Russian Federation)". Then select "Russian" from the list of supported languages. Click on the "Details" button. Check the boxes next to the menu items "Basic translations", "Additional translations", "Linguistics", "Additional software".
Step 3
Wait for the Ubuntu language packs to download and install. To be able to manage those localizations that are already installed, click on the button "Install / remove languages". After all the changes made, restart the computer or end the session of the current user and log back into the system.
Step 4
Go to the "System" menu, select "Administration", then "System language". This menu will allow you to change the language of the Linux system. In the window that opens, go to the "Language" tab. Click Add / Remove Languages to add the desired language. Select the required component from the list, check the boxes next to the required components and click on the "Apply changes" button.
Step 5
Next, in a new window, enter the password to install the Linux language packs. After setting the language in the option "Language for menus and windows" select the desired one, and set the location of the languages in the order of your preference. Then click on the "Text" tab. Select a country from the list for which to display local values for dates, currencies, and numbers.
Step 6
Add a keyboard layout for the installed language. Go to the main menu "System", select "Options", click on the option "Keyboard". In the "Keyboard Settings" window that opens, select the "Layouts" tab, click on the "Add" button, select the desired one and click "OK". In the same window, you can select a keyboard shortcut to change the Linux language.
