A forgotten password is a headache for any computer owner. Some people believe that the password cannot be recovered and prefer to reinstall the entire system to get it back to a functional state. This is not the case - the password can be reset, and this article will show you how to do it. If one of the computer users has forgotten the password, the administrator can reset it and recreate it. But what if the administrator forgot the password?

Step 1
You can change your password by logging in in Safe Mode. When the computer boots up, press F8, in the list that appears, select Safe Mode. Safe mode has a built-in administrator account, log in with it. This account will not require a password. Then go to Control Panel in the Account Management section and select the user for whom you want to change the password. Enter a new password and click OK. After rebooting and starting the system normally, the changes will take effect.

You can also change and reset your password using the command line.
Open "Start", in it open "Run". Enter the cmd command to open a command prompt. At the command prompt, enter the command control userpasswords2 and press enter. You will see a menu for managing accounts, groups and their passwords. Select the user who needs to change the password and uncheck the "require username and password" section. Then change the password to a new one. To reset your password but not enter a new one, leave the password sections blank.

If the tools of Windows itself do not help, use third-party programs, for example, a rescue disk can recover a forgotten administrator account password (for example, Windows miniPE edition).
To make the bootable disk work, when you start the computer, enter the BIOS (with the Del or Tab key) and set the CD as a bootable device. After the disk program starts, go to the following path: miniPE> Programs> System Tools> Password Renew. Specify the path to the Windows folder and update the existing user passwords. Select the required users from the proposed list and change their passwords, and then confirm the changes with the Install and OK buttons. Reboot and check the correctness of the changes.
