Windows Aero is an interface that is installed in new versions of Windows from Microsoft. This graphical shell makes the appearance of the system more effective, but it affects the performance of the system and can "slow down" on older computers.
Instructions
Step 1
Aero graphics in Windows requires a fairly powerful graphics card in the computer. If you notice low system performance, this item can be disabled through the appropriate section of the control panel. To go to the settings, right-click on the desktop and select "Personalization".
Step 2
In the window that appears, go to the "Basic (simplified) themes" section. Choose the style of design you like most from the options offered. As soon as you select one of the suggested themes, the Aero effects will be disabled.
Step 3
You can also not disable Aero graphics completely, but only disable individual effects that significantly reduce the performance of the graphics system. To do this, go to the "Start" menu and right-click on the "Computer" section, then select "Properties".
Step 4
In the central part of the window that appears, click on the "Windows Performance Index" link. On the left side of the next menu, go to Customize Visual Effects.
Step 5
In the new window, you can disable individual graphics or Windows Aero entirely. If you want to get the best graphics performance, select "Provide Best Performance."
Step 6
To disable individual effects, uncheck the boxes next to the corresponding items in the "Special Effects" section that you are going to deactivate. For example, to turn off the transparency effect for the elements of emerging windows, uncheck the box next to the "Turn on transparency effect" checkbox. Removing transparency can significantly improve the performance of your system. You can also get rid of the slowdown by disabling the item "Animation of windows when minimizing and expanding" and "Animated controls".
Step 7
After making changes, press the "OK" button. Desktop effects are disabled.
