Automatic updating allows you to quickly eliminate errors and vulnerabilities detected in the Windows operating system. Despite this, in many Windows distributions, usually "modified" by craftsmen, automatic updating is disabled, and the user has to enable it himself.
Instructions
Step 1
To enable automatic updates in the Windows XP operating system, open: "Start - Control Panel - Automatic Updates". In the window that opens, select the "Automatic" option, set the update frequency and confirm your choice by clicking "OK".
Step 2
To enable automatic updates in Windows 7, open: "Start - Control Panel - System and Security - Windows Update". You can immediately start updating the operating system by clicking the "Search for updates" item on the left side of the window that opens.
Step 3
To configure update settings, select the "Settings settings" item in the left part of the window, you will see a menu with update options. Select the item "Install updates automatically", define the frequency of updates. Read carefully all the items marked with the checkboxes, and remove them from the options that you do not want to accept. Click OK.
Step 4
Sometimes it happens that when you open the automatic update window, its settings are unavailable. If you are faced with such a situation, then your Windows assembly is to blame for it - most likely, it is "pirated".
Step 5
Remember that trying to update a "pirated" version of Windows may result in a warning on your desktop that you are using an unlicensed version. On Windows 7, the desktop may turn black and will need to be reactivated. The "fault" in this is the update package KB971033, which checks the license of the copy of Windows 7 installed on the computer.
Step 6
If you have "pirated" Windows 7, then ask for a list of updates and uncheck KB971033 (do not install it). But the right decision is to purchase a licensed disc with Windows 7. This will allow you to receive all updates without any problems and be sure of effective protection of your computer.
