Sometimes you need to start the operating system in emergency mode, for example, the system does not want to boot, and there is no time to reinstall the operating system. In such cases, you can use a special disk image that can be written to any flash media.
Necessary
- - LiveCD disk image;
- - software PEBuilder and PE2USB;
- - flash-carrier (from 600 Mb).
Instructions
Step 1
Initially, it is assumed that a bootable USB flash drive must be created in advance (for every fireman). You will need to transfer the LiveCD to the flash media. Surely, you have already come across such a disk or heard about it from friends: it helps to launch a working version of the operating system you have chosen, in which you can perform any actions, including working with hard disk partitions.
Step 2
First of all, you need to download an image of any operating system in LiveCD format from the Internet to your computer's hard drive. You will also need the PEBuilder program, which is designed to create a bootable partition on any USB flash drive. After installing this utility, run it, you will see the main window.
Step 3
Go to the "Create a disc" block. In the empty "Source" field, you must specify the location of the installation disk with the operating system, for example, drive "D". In the "Destination directory" field, specify the name of the folder in which you want to save the future distribution of the system. Click the Build Assembly button to proceed to the next step.
Step 4
The program will start creating an assembly (distribution), which can be copied to a flash drive and then run. It should be noted that the "Destination directory" field is a directory in the program folder. By default, the program files are copied to the pebuilder "version number" folder on the "C" drive.
Step 5
Now start the PE2USB program. In the window that opens, go to the "Formatting settings" section, check the box next to the "Allow disk format" item. In the empty field "Path for creating WinPE files" specify the location of the directory where the image created with the PEBuilder program was saved.
Step 6
After making all changes to the installation of this program, click the "Start" button. The LiveCD disk image will be successfully copied to your USB stick. Before using this bootable flash drive, you must set the value usb-drive in the BIOS Setup boot sequence settings.
