The standard bluish style of windows and panels in Windows XP is pleasing to the eye. However, after a while, its monotony gets boring and there is a desire to change the appearance of the operating system. The system style includes window colors, fonts, button and icon design, and desktop wallpaper. There are different ways to change the appearance of the system.
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install Style XP. This is a shareware program for which many different design styles have been created. Within 30 days you can try all its features and decide whether you need such a utility or not. Launch your browser, open the page of the Google or Yandex search engine. Ask the request "Download Style XP" and select one of the links on which this program is located. The latest version for today is designated as 3.19 and exists in "male" or "female" design - Men and Laidies versions of the program. They differ in the themes included in the main set.
Step 2
Install Style XP. To do this, double-click on the archive that you downloaded and answer the questions of the installation wizard. You just need to click "Next" or Next during the installation process. At the end of the work, the installation wizard will prompt you to enable Style XP and use the Panther theme. Answer YES to this request and you will see the changes immediately.
Step 3
Run the Style XP utility from the All Programs menu. At the top of the window, find the Language item. Click on this button and select Russian from the list of available ones. On the left side of the window there are different design options that this program has to offer. Click on the "Styles" tab and select the appropriate one. Don't forget to click the Apply Style to Current Theme button.
Step 4
Download styles and themes for Style XP, you can do it using the same search engine. Then, in the program window, click the "Add Theme" or "Add Style" button and select the downloaded design file. After that, apply the desired appearance of the system.
Step 5
Write down the Uxtheme Multi-Patcher utility. To do this, use any search engine. The version of the program must be no lower than 5.5, and the eighth version of this tool is current today. This is an alternative free way to change styles on Windows XP, although it is not as convenient to use as special programs.
Step 6
Run the downloaded file by double clicking. A window with three buttons will open: Patch, Restore, Exit. Click the Patch button, then click OK on the restart message box. A window may appear asking you to overwrite the system files - in it also click OK. If a Windows XP service message appears from the File Protection Service, click Cancel. After rebooting, you can start changing the style of the operating system.
Step 7
Download themes and skins files from the net, usually these are archives, inside which there is a file with the ". Msstyles" permission. Copy the style file to C: / WINDOWS / Resources / Themes folder. After that, through the standard desktop menu "Properties", you can select a new design. Or just double-click on the required file and confirm the installation with the OK button.
