Dynamic link library files (dll) are a kind of warehouse of various spare parts, which the executable program calls from time to time to extract the desired picture, audio clip, program function, etc. This division into main and auxiliary files allows you to build modular systems - for example, dozens of operating system dll libraries are used by dozens of both system and application applications.

Unlike executable programs, dll files cannot work on their own and therefore do not have their own installers. As a rule, dynamic libraries are installed automatically with the installation of the program for which they are intended to serve. If you received such a file separately from the executable, the first step is to find out the location on the computer of the root folder of the application with which this library should work. If we are talking about a system program, you should look in the system directory - usually this is one of the subdirectories of the Windows folder on the system drive. With application programs it's even easier - right-click the shortcut on the desktop or in the OS main menu, select Properties and click the File Location button. As a result, the working directory of the application will open in the "Explorer" window, in which you need to find a subdirectory with dll files. Such libraries are often part of automated exchange trading systems - trading robots ("advisors"), indicators, scripts. Such systems are more often distributed without an automatic installer, and you have to pack different files from the downloaded archive yourself. There is a separate folder for dll files in the root folder of each type of trading terminal. For example, in the popular MataQuotes terminal, they have a libraries directory inside the experts folder. After finding the correct location for the library file, you can proceed with the installation. This procedure consists in simply moving the dll file to the desired folder: in the file manager window, copy (Ctrl + C) or cut (Ctrl + X) this object from its temporary storage location, go to the working folder and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the clipboard. Keep in mind: if you are trying to replace an existing dll file with a new one, the OS may refuse to do so, giving an error message. This will happen if the file to be replaced at this moment is blocked by the program using it. The problem is solved simply - close this application and try again.
