Instructions

Step 1

Start by setting passwords for all existing users. Open the start menu and go to the control panel. Find and open the User Accounts menu. These steps must be performed by logging into the system with an administrator account. Open the item "Create a password for your account".

Step 2

Fill in the table provided by entering the password and the hint word twice. Save changes by clicking the corresponding button. Return to the "User Accounts" menu and open the "Change another account" item. Select the account you need and click the "Set Password" button. Repeat the procedure for creating a password and save it.

Step 3

Make sure passwords are set for all accounts. Disable the Guest account. Usually, you cannot set a password for it, so its activity poses a direct threat to the computer.

Step 4

Now set a common password for the computer. Enter the BIOS menu by pressing the Delete key while booting the PC. From the main menu, find Set Supervisor Password, highlight it and press Enter. Enter your password twice. Select Save & Exit. Confirm saving the settings and restart the computer.

Step 5

If you are using the Windows XP operating system, there is one more step to take. Turn on your computer and hold down the F8 key. After opening the Advanced Boot Options menu, select "Windows Safe Mode".

Step 6

Use the Administrator account to enter Safe Mode. It usually does not appear in the normal operating mode of the system. Set a password for this account. With its help, you can create new accounts and modify existing ones.

Step 7

Set a password to enter the BIOS menu. This will prevent attempts to change the settings for the computer.
