Despite all the usefulness of the world wide web, in a number of places there is a need to block it: at work, in educational institutions or in a home with small children. The most reliable way to limit Internet access is to physically break the wire, but you can almost always find a much more elegant solution.

Instructions

Step 1

Use a password to access the network connection. In most cases, the connection to the Internet is made by entering the name and password specified by the provider. For the convenience of the user, this data is entered automatically from time to time, but autocomplete can be disabled. In the lower right corner of the screen, click on the "Network Connections" icon; go to "Properties" of the connection; in the "Parameters" tab, check the box next to "Request username password, certificate". Save the settings.

Step 2

Try to access the Internet: a menu for entering connection parameters will appear. Uncheck the box next to "Save username and password". Now, with each connection, users will have to enter the password set by the provider, which, as a rule, turns out to be quite difficult to remember.

Step 3

Limit what your users can do. Create two accounts on your PC. To do this, go to the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel". Find "User Accounts" there. You will find yourself in the settings menu of your account (Administrator).

Step 4

Select "Set Password". This step is required, otherwise the further procedure is meaningless. In the window that appears, enter the combination of symbols you have chosen twice; if required, enter a hint for the password; click "Accept".

Step 5

Go to the control panel item titled "Parental Controls". In Windows 7, the link to it will be in the lower left corner of your profile settings. Select the icon of the second, "regular" user.

Step 6

Click on the buttons one by one: "Parental Control On", "Internet Usage Restriction". In this menu, you can restrict access to the Internet: both completely and partially, by blocking a number of opportunities (downloading files) and specific sites.
