Recording methods

Writing an operating system to an iso image file or some other format depends on where the system files are located. If the OS is located on a disk, then you must first make a copy of it, save it on your computer, and then generate an iso-format image file. At the same time, using special programs, you can immediately save the contents of a CD / DVD disc to an image file of any format. For such purposes, you must use programs such as UltraISO or Nero. The UltraISO program is suitable for recording an operating system image file from a disc, and Nero for creating an image based on OS files located on the computer itself.

OS is on disk

If the OS is on a disc, insert the disc into the drive. Open the UltraISO program. In the upper horizontal menu there is an item "Tools", click on it. In the drop-down menu that appears, select "Create CD image …". A small window will open to configure the recording settings. Select the name of the disk that is your drive in which the operating system is located. Next, you can enable some of the read options, such as ignoring read errors or using an ISO filter. You can leave these parameters unchanged. Next, you need to select the location and name of the image file that will be created after recording, as well as the format of the future file. The default file format is ISO. Click on the "Make" button and wait for the end of the recording. After finishing, go to the folder with the image file and make sure that the recording was correct.

OS is on the computer

If the operating system to be imaged is on a computer, then the procedure for writing files to an image file is almost the same as writing from disk media. In this case, you will need to link the OS files into one common image file. If these files are stored on your computer as a compressed archive, then before starting the recording procedure, you will need to unpack them. Open the Nero Express program. Select the OS files you want to burn using the provided file explorer. Click "Next". After that, you need to select the location where the files will be written. Choose to create an image file. Insert the name of the future file below and click the "Record" button. All OS files will be bundled into an ISO image file.
