During the operation of any type of drive, its parts wear out. This most often leads to clogging of the laser head. The laser is responsible for reading the disc, so your drive starts reading discs poorly. Many users of such drives try not to tinker with such a problem and decide not to tinker with this technique. Either they sell them for spare parts, or they completely throw them out. Your drive can get a second life and get rid of bad disc reading problems.
Necessary
Small screwdriver, clean cloth, needle, petroleum jelly
Instructions
Step 1
In order to understand the cause of the problem, you need to understand the intricacies of the structure of your drive. Loading any disc into your drive can be done using a tray that slides in and out. It is an external component of your drive. To find out the internal components of your drive, you need to disassemble it. Remove the top cover. Most importantly, take your time and remember that it is better to slow down the disassembly speed so as not to lose important fasteners.
Step 2
Sometimes it is much easier to remove the cover when the tray of your drive is open. To do this, take a needle or thin awl and insert it into the hole on the front panel. A discreet button allows you to completely weaken the action of the blocking elements.
Step 3
After removing the drive cover, remove any accumulated debris from this unit. To gain access to the laser lens, move the tray gradually.
Step 4
Use a small, soft brush to remove dust from the lens. Pay attention to the laser suspension - it is very sensitive.
Step 5
After that, soak a clean cloth in alcohol and wipe all surfaces. After cleaning the dirt from all surfaces, be sure to lubricate your drive rails with petroleum jelly.
Step 6
Reassemble the drive in reverse order. The drive cleaning procedure is recommended to be done at least once a year.
