Typing in Microsoft Office Word is only half the battle. To make the document look solid, it needs to be edited. If you think that the lines of text are too close together in your document, increasing the distance between them will not be difficult for you.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are just going to type text, but want to immediately set the desired parameters, place the cursor on the first line of the new document. If you are working with ready-made text, select a fragment of it or the whole text. To select, use the mouse button, the combination of Ctrl, Shift and arrow keys, or use the Select All command on the Home tab in the Editing section.
Step 2
Go to the "Page Layout" tab, in the "Paragraph" section, click on the button with the arrow. A new dialog box will open. This window can be called in another way: select a piece of text, right-click on it, select "Paragraph" in the drop-down menu and click on it with the left mouse button.
Step 3
In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Indents and Spacing" tab. In the "Spacing" section, use the drop-down list to set the value in the "Line spacing" field. With normal settings, this field is set to "Single" or "Multiplier" with a value that is used for certain document styles. Set the field to one and a half or double. If this is not enough, select "Exactly" and enter the desired value. Click OK for the new settings to take effect.
Step 4
To make each new paragraph in the text separated from the previous one by a more noticeable interval, you can use the Enter key, but it is better to set the settings in a different way. Go to the "Home" tab and select the style that suits you (Normal) in the "Styles" section.
Step 5
To edit the position of paragraphs and the spacing between them yourself, place the cursor anywhere in the edited paragraph. Click the Page Layout tab. In the Paragraph section, use the Spacing arrow buttons to adjust the spacing between paragraphs above and below. Press the up arrow button to increase the interval, and press the down arrow button to decrease the interval.
