How you change the spacing between words in body text or caption depends on the tools available to you. For example, in web pages, you can use HTML tags and CSS style descriptions for this, but they cannot be applied in regular text documents. And even in text documents of different formats (for example, TXT and DOC), the spacing between words will be adjusted in different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the format in which the text will be displayed, in which you want to change the spacing. Perhaps, among the common text formats, the TXT format provides the smallest choice of methods for adjusting the spaces between words. Here you can only use append instead of one space two or more. To do this, open the file with the text in an editor and replace all single spaces with double (triple, etc.). Usually the Find and Replace dialog is invoked by pressing the CTRL + R or CTRL + H keyboard shortcut. This operation can be done in any text editor, for example, standard Notepad can easily handle it.
Step 2
If the file type in which the text will be stored supports formatting (for example, DOC), then there are a few more possibilities. It is convenient to edit such texts in Microsoft Word - open the file with the text in it. Here you can also replace single spaces with double spaces, or you can use special characters as a replacement. Among them there are "long space", "short space", "1/4 space". Directly in the find and replace dialog there is no way to enter such a special character, so you must first insert a sample of a space of the required size into the document, copy it, and then open the replace dialog and paste it into the appropriate field. Go to the "Insert" tab, open the drop-down list on the "Symbol" button and select the "Other Symbols" item.
Step 3
Click the Special Characters tab and select the type of space you want to change the spacing between words from the list. Then click the "Insert" button. This will give you a sample for replacing spaces in the text - select and cut it (CTRL + X).
Step 4
Open the search and replace dialog (CTRL + H), enter a regular space in the "Find" field, and paste the cut space (CTRL + V) in the "Replace with" field. Then click the "Replace All" button and the procedure for changing the spacing between words will be completed.
Step 5
If the text is stored as a web document that allows the use of CSS, then everything is much simpler. This language has a special instruction in which you can specify the desired size of the spacing between words - word-spacing. If you want to set the same spacing for the entire document, then add the following tags to its heading part (between the and tags):
body {word-spacing: 20px}
Replace the value of 20 pixels with the space you want.
