Some computers create multiple network connections. To painlessly disable one of them in operating systems of the Linux family, just enter a few commands in the "Terminal".

Step 1
Linux network connections are referred to as ethX. Any number can be substituted for the "X", for example, eth0, eth1, etc. First of all, you need to find out the designation of the network adapter that you want to disable. By default, the master is eth0. But relying only on textbooks is not always correct. In this case, it is advisable to check the name of the required connection itself.
Step 2
Open the window of the "Terminal" program, the shortcut of which is in the "Programs" menu (section "Accessories"). Enter the ifconfig command, find the correct adapter and note the number. According to all the rules, it is advisable to immediately execute a command that will turn off the desired device. But for permanent effect it is recommended to edit the startup file.
Step 3
In Terminal, enter the following line - sudo nano /etc/rc.local. This action will open the rc.local file from the etc directory of the root folder of the system disk. The sudo command allows you to act as root (administrator). Pay attention to the text editor: nano is a console option, you can use gedit or any other instead.
Step 4
In the text document that opens, you need to go to the end of the list of parameters, for this you need to use the mouse wheel or by pressing the Ctrl + End key combination. The penultimate line should be the command that is executed in the "Terminal": sudo ifconfig ethX down. The last line should be the command exit 0, if not, copy and paste.
Step 5
Now it remains to save the document by clicking the corresponding button in the editor window. Close the editor by clicking the "Cross" in the title bar and go to "Terminal". To verify that one network adapter is disconnected, you need to restart your computer. You can do this here by entering the sudo reboot command and pressing the Enter button.
