A macro is a list of instructions for Word or Excel. These instructions are combined into a single script and tell the program what actions to take to achieve a specific goal. The script can be called by pressing one key or their combination, as well as using a menu command or a button on the toolbar.
Instructions
Step 1
Select "Record Macro" from the "Tools" menu, then "Start Recording". A field for entering the name of the macro will appear.
Step 2
Enter a name for the macro. In the "Description" field, you must enter its purpose. Then press the OK button, after that the macro will be recorded, and the word “Recording” will appear in the status bar.
Step 3
Go through the entire sequence of actions that the recording macro will perform. Since the recorder (macro recorder) records all actions (with the exception of clicks on the buttons located on the Stop Recording toolbar), they must be performed very carefully.
Step 4
Click the Stop Macro button when you need to finish recording your macro.
Step 5
Restore the stop macro button on the screen if it is missing. To do this, click on the right mouse button on any toolbar. A list of instruments will appear. Select the "Settings" item in it.
Step 6
Select the Macro category from the list that appears. A set of buttons will appear. Click the Stop Macro button and, while holding down the left mouse button, move the button image to the open panel.
Step 7
Edit the recorded macro as needed by choosing Tools, then Macro and Macros. Select the required macro from the list that appears and click on the "Change" button. Save your changes.
Step 8
Assign a menu item or shortcut key to the macro. Execute the command "Tools" and then "Macro". Select the required macro from the list and click the Options button. Select the desired menu item or shortcut key, when selected and pressed, this macro will perform its work.
Step 9
To delete an unnecessary macro, open the "Macro" option in the "Service" item and click the "Delete" button. If the lines with the names of the macros are recorded in the "Tools" item of the main menu, to delete them, first open the Visual Basic toolbar, then click the "Menu Editor" button. In the dialog that appears, select and delete the required line by clicking the "Delete" button.
