There are times when the printer starts printing a file, but before that, not all print parameters are set correctly. In such cases, you should not wait for its completion, since paint and paper are wasted in vain. You can simply interrupt the printing of the file, then correct the desired parameters and print it again. This saves time, ink and paper.

Instructions

Step 1

The most convenient way to stop printing is from the printer software. If you have not yet installed additional software for the printer, do so. To do this, use the disc that should be included with the printer. If for some reason you do not have additional software, you can download it from the official website of the manufacturer of your printer model.

Step 2

When you start printing a file from the printer software, a dialog box appears with information about the print status. At the bottom of the window there is a line "Cancel printing", by clicking on which the printer will stop printing the file. If you cannot find the Print Status dialog box, it is most likely minimized in the toolbar (in the lower left corner of the desktop). Just find your printer icon on it and double-click on it. This will expand the dialog box.

Step 3

If you are using a printer without additional software, you can use another method to stop the printer from printing. Click on "Start", select the "Control Panel" menu, and in it - the component "Printers and Faxes". Depending on the operating system, the component name may vary. For example, on Windows 7, this component is called "View devices and printers". The main thing is to have the word "Printers". A list of printers that are connected to your computer will appear. In the case of a home PC, this is most likely just one printer. Click on the printer icon with the right mouse button.

Step 4

A context menu will pop up, in which you select the "View print queue" command. In the dialog box that appears, select the document you want to unprint. To do this, right-click on it and select the "Undo" command. In the window that appears, confirm the cancellation of printing by clicking "Yes". You can also cancel printing of all scheduled documents from this window.
