Step 1
When the amount of information you are working with exceeds some minimum values, you can allocate a partition on the hard disk or the disk itself. This data can not only be hidden from prying eyes, but also denied access. The most important thing in this business is not to forget how you hid the disk partitions yourself.
Step 2
In order to completely hide the hard drive from Explorer (My Computer), you need to download the Tweak UI software. This program is distributed free of charge and is freely available. After downloading and installing it on your computer, follow these steps:
- in the program window that opens, select My Computer - Drives. All disks of the computer are displayed in front of you. Here you can mark or unmark the discs you need.
- in order to hide a hard disk or one partition, uncheck the item opposite the disk that you want to see only for personal use. Click OK.
To check the functionality of the program's hiding disks function, go to the "Explorer" window. You will not find the disk you are looking for, but it is just invisible. To display the contents of this disc, enter the name of this disc in the address bar.
Step 3
If this method of hiding disk partitions does not suit you, the XP Tweaker utility will help out. Start it up. Find the tab "Protection" - "Explorer". Check the boxes in front of the drives to which you want to block access. Click "Apply" and launch "Explorer" - the marked drives are no longer available.
