To facilitate heat dissipation, such microcircuits are equipped with radiators. For example, a processor without a heatsink cannot function at all - it will instantly burn out from the heat it emits. The heatsink of the processor and video card chips is also necessarily equipped with fans that improve heat dissipation

However, all these tricks are useless if the radiator is covered with a dense layer of dust. Loose dust is ideal thermal insulation, a real "fur coat" that retains all the heat under its cover. The result is a deterioration in cooling, increased noise from the fans, forced to rotate faster to ensure a safe temperature, and in the most difficult cases, the processor will generally be forced to shut down for a while until the temperature drops to acceptable values. In addition, dust is dangerous in that it can provoke an electrical discharge between various sections of printed circuit boards and elements, which can generally disable expensive equipment.

Therefore, it is necessary to clean the system unit regularly and thoroughly. This is not difficult to do, although caution in handling complex electronic equipment will of course be required.

First of all, you need to turn off the computer, and not only shut down the operating system, but also remove the power plug from the outlet. The fact is that after the shutdown of Windows, voltage remains on a number of circuits and circuits, since the computer remains ready to turn on and is even able to respond to some events, such as keystrokes or receiving network signals. To eliminate the danger of a short circuit, the power must be disconnected completely.

Take a screwdriver and open the system unit. Typically a Phillips screwdriver is sufficient, but sometimes a hex screwdriver may be needed. Some system blocks do not need to be untwisted at all, they open with latches. Inspect the cover carefully before opening it. If there are stickers on the cover to ensure that your computer is still under warranty, make sure the warranty has expired. Otherwise, opening the case will void your warranty repair rights.

Remove the cover by unscrewing the retaining screws (or opening the latches). As a rule, this is the side of the system unit, although there are various designs. The cover should be removed without effort. If you cannot remove the cover without effort, inspect it carefully - you may have forgotten a screw, or you should open the cover in a different direction.

Open the lid and use a vacuum cleaner with a narrow nozzle to gently remove the dust. Try not to touch the surface of the boards and the electronic components protruding above them - they can be easily damaged. The most difficult thing to extract dust from the many fans. If the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a blowing mode, the dust can be blown off.

When you are finished cleaning the system unit, carefully put the cover and retaining screws back in place.
