Instructions

Step 1

Select the column whose width you want to change. To do this, just move the cursor over the letter, which it is designated horizontally, and click on it with the left mouse button. You can select several adjacent columns or those that are not adjacent to the selected ones. If you want to select adjacent columns, click on the first of them and on the last, while holding down the Shift key. If you need to select several non-adjacent columns to change the width, then mark the selection while holding down the Ctrl key. You can change the width of a selected column or several using different methods.

Step 2

Place the cursor on the right border of the cell on which the letter is written and drag it, manually adjusting the width of the column "by eye". Along with this column, the width of all the others that you selected will change. It will become the same for everyone, even if their initial width was different.

Step 3

In the menu item "Home" select the field "Cells" and click on the inscription "Format", select the third item from the top - "Column width". In the dialog box that opens, you can set the desired column width by typing its exact numerical value. The width of all selected columns will be equal to this value.

Step 4

If you need to adjust the column width depending on the length of a line of text or a numerical value, follow the same steps, only select the fourth line from the top - "AutoFit Width" from the "Format" menu. In this case, the width of each selected column will be different. For each of them, it will become equal to the length of the record located in this column, consisting of the maximum number of characters. This is convenient when the number of rows in the table is large, and you do not have to scroll through it to set the desired column width manually. Autofit width can also be performed by double-clicking on the right border of the letter heading of the selected column.
