Step 1
If you want to slow down the CPU after an unsuccessful overclocking, turn on the computer and go to the BIOS menu. Find the Chipset Configurations or Advanced Chipset submenu. Go to the item to change the bus frequency or CPU multiplier. Select the required processor parameters. Reduce the voltage applied to the CPU.

Save your changes. Restart your computer and perform a CPU stability test. To do this, you can use the Clock Gen utility.

When using a mobile computer, you can optimize processor performance by using features of the Windows operating system. Open Control Panel and select the "System and Security" menu.

Go to the "Power supply" submenu, select the ready-made template checkbox and click the "Power plan settings" button. Go to the "Change advanced settings" menu.

Find the "Processor Power Management" item and expand the "Minimum State" sub-item. Set the values for the minimum state of the central processor when operating on battery and mains power. Change the indicators in the "Maximum state" sub-item in the same way.

Click the Apply button and close the settings menu. Disable automatic power plan changeover when the charger is connected.

Use the Clock Gen program to change the CPU settings in Windows. Run it and change the position of the slider in the CPU Frequency item. Remember that in this case, the change in processor performance will occur only after the OS is loaded.
