World of Warcraft items are divided into regular and expandable items. Expandable items have sockets - sockets for stones, which give certain bonuses to the hero's abilities, improving his armor and combat characteristics of weapons.

Step 1
Note that different stones give different properties to items. Stones of any color can be inserted into the slot. There are six colors in total. The three main ones are blue, yellow and red. And three additional ones - green, orange and purple.
Step 2
Even if there are several single-color connectors on the item, you can improve the characteristics of the hero or change the properties of things by inserting different stones. In addition, the character will acquire additional characteristics, and items - additional properties, provided that the colors of the stones and sockets match. Find out exactly what opportunities you get. To do this, right-click on the stone and read its description. All bonuses to the characteristics of characters and items are marked in gray.
Step 3
To insert a stone into a slot, first hold down the Shift key. Right click on the item with sockets. The socket usage window will open. Select the stones that are in your hero's inventory in accordance with the properties you want to give the item or the characteristics necessary for the character.
Step 4
Drag the stones from your inventory to the slots of your chosen item by clicking and holding the left mouse button. At the bottom of the same window, find the SocketGems button. Click on it, and the stones transferred from the inventory will be placed in the slots, and the item will change its properties. An already inserted stone cannot be removed from the socket, only replaced with another, and irrevocably.
Step 5
It is not necessary to fill all the sockets at once. You can always come back to this when you have stones matching the colors of the connectors and the desire to insert them. So, if your character does not yet have a high enough level, do not rush to improve his characteristics and add new properties to objects. In the course of the game and with the growth of the hero's level, you can find things that have valuable qualities and without stones.
