Step 1
Download a collection of icons from the Internet or create them yourself. The main thing is to make sure that the icons you want to change the standard icons to have the.ico extension. If images are in.

Most of the icons on the desktop are shortcuts. To set an icon for a shortcut, move the cursor to the folder or file whose icon you want to change. Click on the file with the right mouse button and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Shortcut" tab and click on the "Change icon" button located at the bottom of the window. In the additional window "Change icon" press the button "Browse" and specify the path to the icon. When the icon is selected, you will see a thumbnail of it. Click OK to confirm your selection. To set a new icon for a folder created on the desktop, open the properties window of this folder in the same way as described in the second step. Since this is not a shortcut, there will be no tabs with the same name in the properties. Go to the "Settings" tab, in the "Folder icons" section located at the bottom of the window, click on the "Change icon" button. In the additional window that opens, select a new icon from the suggested thumbnails or specify the path to a custom file. Icons for items such as "My Computer", "My Documents", "Network Neighborhood" and "Trash" cannot be changed through the folder properties. Right-click on any free space on the desktop, select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the "Display Properties" window that opens, go to the "Desktop" tab and click the "Desktop Settings" button. Select the element whose icon you want to change and click on the "Change icon" button.
