But you can also upgrade a relatively old computer running Windows 10. How do you set everything up and what needs to be installed for this?

Step 1
Many of these adapters are offered by sellers on Aliexpress. They cost about 1200 rubles. There are some in Russian stores, but the price will be much higher. Typically, these adapters do not need a driver. But the manufacturer says that on older computers and older versions of Windows it will still have to be installed. The link will be given by the seller with Ali.
Models differ in appearance. There are cheap plastic ones. There is a premium - in an aluminum case, which will better fit into the design of an expensive laptop. The adapter format allows quick removal and insertion. This is convenient when carrying your laptop in a tight carrying case. It doesn't matter at home. Let it always stick out in the front of the PC. Usually there is a free USB slot.
If there is no such connector, you can use a USB extension cable (cable) and bring it out from the back of the system unit. The main thing is that you don't have to reach out to put your finger on. Otherwise, all the convenience of authorization will be lost.
Step 2
When the device is recognized by the system, you can start setting up Windows itself. Press the Win + I keys, in the menu that appears, select Accounts.
Step 3
Windows Hello can recognize the user by his face (if there is a video camera) and a fingerprint (of course, if there is a scanner). We select the option Login option on the left, on the right - Fingerprint recognition.
Enabling this authorization method does not cancel the alternative: entering a password or pin code. You can always choose a different way to enter the menu when you start Windows. For example, if the finger is wet and not recognized by the system.
If the item about fingerprint authorization is inactive, then the system did not see the adapter. You need to go back to the step with installing the driver and contact support or the seller.
Step 4
In this step, we need to add a fingerprint. Follow the directions on the system and write down several variations for one finger, applying it in two different directions. This makes the operation more reliable. The sensor response accuracy is high enough. But all the budget models use a high definition camcorder design. They essentially take pictures of your finger. In theory, such a scanner could be fooled by a high-resolution fingerprint image. But at home, hardly anyone will do this.
But your life will be much easier to log into your computer using your fingerprint. Authorization will take no more than 1 second, and you will never forget the password.
