Safe mode allows users of personal computers with the installed Windows operating system to diagnose PCs and troubleshoot various problems.
Safe Mode is a special mode that before Windows 8 was launched using the F8 key. The latest version of this operating system loads rather quickly, and therefore it is not always possible to launch this mode using the same key. There are several fairly simple ways to start the operating system in this mode.
Standard Option
You can use a special tool - "System Configuration". In order to run this program, you must in the "Start" menu, enter "Run" in the search field, and in the window that appears, write the command Msconfig.exe. A special window will appear where you need to go to the "Download" tab. A list of all operating systems installed on the personal computer will be displayed here. You must select Windows 8, and in the "Boot Options" check the box next to the "Safe Mode" item. After restarting, the computer will start in safe mode.
Launching Safe Mode from the Options Screen
For example, if you have not logged in yet, you can hold down the SHIFT button on your keyboard and click on the power icon located on the login screen and select Restart. A special menu will open, in which you need to select the "Diagnostics" item, and then "Additional parameters". When the next window appears, then you need to select "Boot Options" and "Restart". After the computer is restarted, a list of several options will appear on the screen, where you can select one of three types of Windows 8 Safe Mode.
Removable system recovery media
In addition to all the options listed, there is another one, which is to use a CD or USB flash drive to restore the system. After the disk or USB is loaded, the user will be prompted to select a keyboard layout from the proposed options. After selection, the options screen will open, exactly the same as in the previous option. All manipulations will be absolutely identical to those in the previous case. It's worth noting that in Windows 8.1, creating a system recovery disc simply won't work.
All the options presented are very simple to execute, which means that even a beginner can cope with the problem. In any case, even if you did not have time to press the F8 key (or it does not work on the keyboard), then one of the above methods will help boot the OS in safe mode.
