A scratched disc with important information must be copied in time to avoid data loss. Do not postpone this procedure for a long time, as after a while the disc may completely stop playing on the computer.

Instructions
Step 1
Before attempting to copy a scratched disc, you must clean any dirt on the surface of the disc. Even if the disc looks clean at first glance, do not neglect this step.
Step 2
Purchase a microfiber cloth for cleaning. Give preference to materials with anti-static properties. Also buy a special disc cleaning fluid. You can find it in one of the stores selling computer or multimedia equipment. Choose a cleaning liquid from reputable manufacturers that produce CDs in addition to related products.
Step 3
Moisten the prepared cloth with the product. Clean the surface of the disc in a circular motion from the center to the outside.
Step 4
If you have not had the opportunity to prepare special cleaning products, wash the disc in warm water and soap. Then wipe it dry with a lint-free cloth. Make sure that small particles do not fall on the surface of the disc, which could additionally scratch the surface.
Step 5
If you have the option of choosing a drive to copy, use the most recent one available. Ask your friends. Perhaps one of them will be able to provide you with their computer with a new floppy drive for a while.
Step 6
Insert the CD into the drive and wait for it to be detected by the operating system. Start copying the disc. Perhaps pre-cleaning the disk will allow you to do this. If the program gives an error, try to transfer some of the information by dragging and dropping individual files from the disk to a folder on your computer.
Step 7
If you can't limit yourself to copying selected files, download special software called IsoPuzzle. It allows you to copy partially damaged discs. This program is distributed free of charge. Double click on the downloaded file to install it on your computer. After completing the installation process, run the program.
Step 8
After selecting a folder to save files from disk, click the Start button. The program will try to copy the data step by step, processing each sector of the disk. You can stop the process at any time, and then continue working at a convenient time for you.
