The network today permeates literally every area of human life, influencing the individual's brain and shaping character, behavior, habits. But in the virtual world, as well as in the real one, sometimes something awaits that not everyone will be happy to meet. On the Internet, this can be called pornography. How to protect your children, including yourself, by protecting them from eroticism and pornographic content?
Ways to block porn content
There are two ways to block pornography: through your computer (local machine) or through a browser using an account.
The first method often involves installing various kinds of antivirus software, firewalls and parental control systems. All these programs work on the principle of filtering: they contain a database of sites containing prohibited content in advance, and it is automatically updated every day. Thus, if a user accidentally or deliberately goes to the corresponding resource, then the program simply blocks his access to this resource (does not allow viewing the content of the site).
Often these programs are highly effective, protecting not only from erotic and porno content, but also from others, not suitable for young children materials (pedophilia, bestiality, suicidal themes, etc.).
The most popular drawback of such programs is their transparency for the user: a child who knows how to use a computer can safely disable such a program, either by going to the tray and clicking on the corresponding icon, or by "killing" the corresponding process through the OS task manager.
Blocking pornographic content through the browser
In addition to using filter programs that are installed on the local machine, you can block unwanted content by using various kinds of internal filters of the browser itself. Filters of this kind are often extensions or applications that you can customize to your liking.
In addition to sites, it is often necessary to block pop-up advertising, which also may contain porn content. Over the last two years the leader in this was the program AdBlock, which is available for free download.
They often work no less efficiently than local programs, but sometimes they slow down the browser itself, although many of them use a script similar to regular programs - they simply add the addresses of unwanted resources to the hosts file, thereby blocking access to them.
