The easiest way to recover a lost password for logging into the Microsoft Windows operating system is to use the saved hints. If you cannot recover your password using this method, you must reset and create a new computer administrator password.
Instructions
Step 1
Restart the computer and press the F8 function key to reset the password using the built-in Administrator account of the computer.
Step 2
Specify "Safe Mode" in the "Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu" window that opens and use the built-in computer Administrator account that does not have password protection by default.
Step 3
Confirm your choice in the warning dialog box about working in safe mode by clicking "Yes" and call the main menu of the system by clicking the "Start" button.
Step 4
Go to Control Panel and expand the User Accounts node.
Step 5
Specify the account to be reset and use the Change Password command in the menu on the left side of the application window.
Step 6
Enter the value of the new password in the new dialog box and confirm your choice by re-entering the same value in the corresponding field.
Step 7
Click the Change Password button and close all open windows.
Step 8
Restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
Step 9
Press the F8 function key and select "Safe mode with command line support" in the "Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu" window that opens to perform an alternative password reset operation.
Step 10
Use the built-in computer Administrator account, which does not have password protection by default, and enter the following value in the command interpreter text box: net user username new password.
Step 11
Press the Enter function key to confirm the execution of the command to change the password of the selected account and enter the value exit in the test field of the command interpreter.
Step 12
Press the Enter softkey to confirm the close command and restart the computer to apply the selected changes.
