If you reinstall the program or manually delete your message histories in Skype, you have several options for restoring it. Especially if you have not previously reinstalled the operating system with full formatting.
Instructions
Step 1
To recover deleted message history from Skype, use copying history files from computers of your interlocutors, since it is duplicated for both contacts.
Step 2
If you have reinstalled Skype on your computer, replacing it with another version, copy the logs from the directory of the previously used program, if any. They are usually located in the folder with the Skype username in the Application Data folder on your local drive. In order to search for log files, first enable the display of hidden items in the folder properties. This section of settings is available in the control panel menu of your computer.
Step 3
After copying the log file, place it in the directory of the same user of the already new program, while it must be disabled for all Windows users. After copying, start the program by selecting the interlocutor on the left side of it. In the settings, set the display of messages for the previous period of time, if this has not been done earlier. Read your message and call history.
Step 4
If you have previously deleted the log file with the message history manually, check if it is in the basket. If it was removed from there too, use recovery utilities, for example, Handy Recovery.
Step 5
Perform disk analysis in the running program. After that, go to the search for deleted data by setting the appropriate parameters in the filter. Recovery is possible only if you have not previously fully formatted the hard drive when reinstalling the operating system.
Step 6
If you find the file you need, restore it using the appropriate command in the top menu. After that, open the Recovered Files folder on your hard drive and copy the log to the user's Skype folder.
