BIOS is a set of firmware located on a memory chip located on the motherboard of a computer. When the computer is turned on, even before the operating system is loaded, the BIOS recognizes the installed devices, checks their operability and starts them with the specified settings. In most cases, USB support in the BIOS should be enabled. many devices use this interface to connect to a computer.

Step 1
Enter BIOS setup program. To do this, you must press a specific key or key combination after turning on the computer when checking devices, before loading the operating system. The most common option is to press the Delete or Del key. To find out which key to press in a particular case, carefully observe the text on the screen when you turn on the computer. One of the lines will be a hint similar to the following: Press F2 to enter Setup.
Step 2
Find the menu item that will contain the setting responsible for enabling USB support in the BIOS. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, this item may have different names. Common options are Integrated Peripherals, Peripherals, Advanced. If there is no such item, try to go to other sections - in one of them you will come across the necessary item from the next step.
Step 3
Select the parameter directly responsible for the USB controller. It may also have different names in different BIOS versions. But its name will necessarily include the word USB, for example, USB Controller, USB Device, USB Function, OnChip USB, Onboard USB Device. It can be located both directly in the previous paragraph, and in the sub-item Onboard Device, USB Configuration, OnChip Device.
Step 4
Set to Enabled to enable USB support. In some BIOS versions, it is possible not only to enable the USB controller, but also to indicate the mode of its operation using items V1.1 and V1.1 + V2.0. In this case, you should choose the V1.1 + V2.0 option, which, along with the USB 1.1 mode, will also use the more modern USB 2.0.
Step 5
Save the settings. To do this, select the Save & Exit Setup menu item in the main menu of the BIOS setup program. The computer will automatically reboot and then USB support will be enabled.
