Step 1
Examine the body of the flash drive. One of its elements may have a serial number stamped on it. As a rule, flash drives have several serial numbers: one unique and one common. A common serial number is stamped or stuck on the cases of all flash drives of the same batch and model, the second is unique and is contained directly in the software of the carrier.
Step 2
So, in the first case, in order to find out the total number of the flash drive, you will need to open its case (if the number is not contained on its outer elements). Please note that in this case, warranty repair (if it is still valid) is out of the question. Pay attention not only to the plastic parts, but also to the iron "sting" of the flash drive itself. Her number can be applied to it.
Step 3
Go to the registry editor to find out the number of the flash drive. As mentioned earlier, the unique serial number of a USB flash drive manufactured according to a specification can be considered the number entered into its software - InstanceID. To access Registry Editor, go to the Start button menu, then select Run.
Step 4
Type regedit into the command line and press Enter. A window with a directory of folders will appear. Sequentially expanding the required folders, go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSetEnum / USB directory. In the USB folder you will find all the information on your flash drive, including the unique serial number.
Step 5
Try to find the papers and documents that came with the flash drive. This refers to the warranty card that you filled out in the store when you bought it. The serial number must be indicated on the warranty card, according to which this particular flash drive, and not any other, will, if necessary, be subject to warranty repair. Sometimes the serial number is found in other documents (specifications from the manufacturer), but this is an extremely rare case.
