At the moment, special soundproofing systems can be purchased in a specialized computer store, but, as a rule, they lead to an increase in the temperature of the working surfaces of the hard disk, moreover, the price of this device remains high. And this option is not suitable for everyone. Such a system can be made at home.

The price of homemade devices will be much lower, most likely due to the fact that the design of their invention will not be the best. When upgrading your hard drive, do not forget about the heating of all devices as a whole. the hard drive together with the processor are, perhaps, the most heat-intensive devices.

The scheme of the simplest noise isolator consists in creating foam rubber gaskets between the hard drive case and the metal rack on which it is attached. After such an improvement, the number of dB rapidly drops down, but the temperature inside the case of the system unit and the drive rises. Almost every hard drive with such noise isolation gives a significant increase in temperature (up to 55 ° C).

When this temperature is reached, the service life of your drive decreases, so this insulator can be used in rare cases when it is not a pity to part with the information storage device. You can also use a synthetic winterizer instead of foam rubber - a rather light and voluminous material. Due to its structure, it quickly accumulates temperature, so it must be used in tandem with a cooling device.

You can make a box for a hard drive using cut sheets of 7-8 mm thick. Its production is best ordered from friends who work at the enterprise. The sintepon + aluminum union gives good results not only in noise insulation, but also in thermal insulation. It should be noted that in addition to the hard disk and padding polyester, it is necessary to place a U-shaped plate in the box, which will play the role of a radiator.

You can also use another cooling system - using a water block. This technology is considered more reliable, but at home its manufacture is limited by many factors (welding of metal pipes and housing). This method works well for home computers and workstations.
