Step 2
Under the control board is the hard drive cover, under which is the entire hard drive device, which you have probably seen many times in photographs taken by other users of broken hard drives. Remove the 7 screws, then remove the hard drive cover. The main task of dismantling the hard drive is now complete. If you are taking apart a hard drive for the parts that are inside, then follow on.

All other parts: filter, heads and discs can be disassembled with a screwdriver. Be careful when disassembling the hard drive head mechanism - they are equipped with powerful magnets, you can pinch your finger. After you remove the "plates" of the hard drive, you can make sure that their surface is easily scratched by any object. The number of heads in a hard disk is twice as many as the number of "pancakes". Therefore, if there were 4 "pancakes" in your hard disk, therefore, the number of heads will be 8.
