Steam Guard can provide an extra layer of protection for your Steam account to prevent your account from being stolen in order to send spam or sell it to another user. To enable Steam Guard, you must activate its support through the service application menu.
Instructions
Step 1
Steam Guard blocks all attempts to log into your Steam account from unauthorized computers, i.e. in fact, you can only run your account and games in it on one of the computers. This option is used to reduce the risk of theft of your account and games purchased from it.
Step 2
Update your Steam to the latest version available. Usually, the update is performed automatically, but you need to perform an additional check using the "Check for Updates" link in the program window. To activate Steam Guard, the latest version of the software must be used.
Step 3
Confirm the email account linked to your account. To do this, click on the "Settings" section. If the address has not yet been confirmed, click on the "Confirm" button, then go to the account of the email service you are using. Enter the code received in the message into the corresponding field of the Steam client to confirm that you are the one who is logging into your account.
Step 4
Restart Steam and go back to the "Settings" section. If the e-mail binding operation was successful, you will see the “Confirmed” status opposite the line with your e-mail address.
Step 5
Go to the "Account" tab and select "Manage Steam Guard". Check the box next to "Enable protection" to activate the mode, then click "OK".
Step 6
Steam Guard has now been enabled. Now, to go to your Steam account on another computer, you will need to go through authorization using your mailbox. When you try to log into your account from a new device, you will be sent an e-mail notification with a code for authorization from the same computer on which access is being performed.
