Active use of the Wi-Fi adapter of a laptop or tablet computer significantly reduces the battery life. Special measures are recommended to save energy.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on your mobile computer. After the Windows operating system has finished loading, left-click on the network connections icon. It is located in the lower right corner of the desktop.
Step 2
Highlight an active wireless connection and click the Disable button. Wait for the running process to complete. Please be aware that after the network connection is broken, the adapter is still working.
Step 3
For maximum power saving, completely disable the Wi-Fi adapter. To do this, press a combination of special keys. If this function is not provided by the laptop developers, perform software shutdown of the adapter.
Step 4
Open the Windows operating system device manager. You can get to this menu through the properties of the "Computer" item. Find your Wi-Fi adapter among other network devices. Click on its name with the right mouse button.
Step 5
In the menu that opens, select the "Disable" item. Confirm the deactivation of the selected equipment.
Step 6
If you are using an Android tablet, turn on the device and go to the main menu. Select the "Settings" item and go to the "Wireless networks" sub-item.
Step 7
Open the menu for editing Wi-Fi network settings. Now uncheck the "Wi-Fi adapter" box. This will disable this device. If you want to disconnect from the active network, click on its name and select "Disable".
Step 8
Now hold your finger or stylus on the name of this network. In the menu that opens, select the "Do not connect to this network" item. This will prevent auto-connection to this access point.
Step 9
Return to the previous menu and disable the "Automatically connect to unsecured networks" feature. Change the setting to "Notify when available networks are found."
