The main reason for formatting a hard drive is to reinstall the operating system. Before starting the process, you need to copy all the necessary information to an external medium.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the most common options is to use an installation disc or flash drive. During one of the stages, the system will tell you that you need to format a particular partition. Select the required item, click on the "Format" button, set the required settings and wait until the end of the procedure. Be careful and set the parameters to suit your system.
Step 2
You can also use special software. Next, the process will be considered using the example of Acronics Disk. First, download the program to your computer from the developer's official website. Then, using Nero Burning or standard Microsoft tools, burn the image to disc. Restart your computer and go to the BIOS menu. Adjust the settings so that the system starts the DVD or CD-ROM first. Further, the principle of operation is approximately the same: select the required section, click the "Format" button, specify the parameters and wait until the end.
Step 3
If you do not have access to the Internet or specialized software, you can proceed in a slightly more complicated way. Disassemble your system unit and remove the hard drive. Then connect it to another computer that has a different version of the operating system. Boot under the system of the second computer and go to the settings. Then select the drive you need, right-click on its icon and select "Format".
