Reinstalling the system always erases all data stored on the computer. In order not to lose them and subsequently not to waste time on the subsequent restoration of files and making settings, you need to copy all the information to a separate medium.
It is necessary
- - a carrier of the appropriate volume;
- - Niksaver, Drivers Genius Pro or MyDrivers Backup programs
Instructions
Step 1
Decide on the amount of storage medium that will be used as a backup storage. If the amount of data on the computer is small, then a flash card or disk is suitable for storage. If the amount of data is large, use a different hard disk or purchase a larger removable disk.
Step 2
Save the drivers installed on the system. They are located in the Windows folder of the system disk, in the Inf, System subfolders (extensions.drv,.vxd,.dll), System32 (Drivers folder,.sys and.dls files), Help (for help files). There is a Driver Genius Pro application that will automatically scan your system and installed drivers data and then help you copy them to removable media. An alternative and simpler program is MyDrivers Backup.
Step 3
Use the program to save the data. For this, Niksaver is well suited, which will copy the data of all software installed in the system. In the left part of the program window select the settings you need to save. Font folders, Internet settings, browser bookmarks, cookies, system registration data are copied.
Step 4
In order to save all data from Skype, there is a Skype Backup Tool that will help you save the profiles of the program. By default, all Skype settings are located in the Application Data subfolder of the user's folder (C: Documents and Settings). It is enough to copy the Skype folder to the desired medium.
Step 5
If games are installed on the system, then you can save your achievements. Most games use separate files for saving, which can be located either in the directory of the game itself, or in the "My Documents" folder. The save files are located in the Save and Saved subfolders of the main Data folder. If you need to copy player files, they are located in the Player folders of the corresponding directory.
