To fully configure and save the parameters of the wireless network, it is recommended to connect to it at the moment. In Windows XP, follow these steps. Turn on the wireless adapter first.

Step 2

Open the Start menu and go to the Connections menu. In the window that opens, select "Show all connections". A new window will open titled "Network Connections". Find the "Wireless Network Connection" icon in it and right-click on it. Select "Enable". Wait for the wireless adapter to turn on.

Step 3

The above icon will display the status "Not connected". Right-click on it again and select View Available Wireless Networks. Select the required network and click the "Connect" button.

Step 4

After completing the connection, click on this icon again and select "Properties". Click the General tab. Check the boxes next to "Notify when connected or not connected" and "When connected, display the icon in the notification area."

Step 5

Go to the "Wireless Networks" tab. Check the box next to Use Windows to configure your network. Now find the "Preferred Networks" menu and click the "Add" button located just below. Select the "Links" tab.
