Terminal mode allows users to work with server resources directly. It is very convenient if the workstations are not too powerful and it is more rational to work directly with the resources of a more powerful server. Also, terminal mode is very convenient for working with a server via the Internet, as it allows you to reduce traffic.
Instructions
Step 1
Install the Terminal Server role for the server. To do this, enter through the "Start" menu in "Control Panel" -> "Server Management".
Step 2
Select the "Add New Role" menu item. Select Terminal Server from the list.

Reboot the server at the request of the operating system.
Step 4
Install Terminal License Server. This module is required for Terminal Server to allow multiple terminal connections.
Step 5
Establish an Internet connection and activate the Terminal License Server. To do this, you must enter your contact information.
Step 6
After activating the Terminal Server License, run the Client Access License Wizard and, after specifying the license type, set the number of users for your terminal server. There can be two types of terminal licenses. Per Device type - connection of a certain number of computers is allowed. Per User type - connection of a certain number of users is allowed.
Step 7
If you plan to connect to Terminal Server from the Internet, configure access to it on your router and proxy server. On the router, you must allow connection to port 3389 - this port is used for terminal connection to the server. It is also necessary to tell the router to forward requests on this port to the internal terminal server. The proxy server must be configured to allow communication on port 3389.
Step 8
Configure user access to the terminal server. In the Terminal Server Manager snap-in, in the permissions properties, define the list of users or user groups that are allowed access to terminal mode.
