The mp3 format is also convenient, which makes it possible to receive relatively high-quality sound files of a small size. But what if you need to download several mp3 files to a device with little memory? To solve this problem, any audio editor is quite suitable, which, when saving files, allows you to control compression settings.
Necessary
Adobe Audition program
Instructions
Step 1
Open the file you want to reduce in a sound editor. To do this, right-click on the file icon in the explorer and select the "Open with" option from the context menu. Select Adobe Audition from the list of programs with which to open the file.
Step 2
View file information using the File Info command from the File menu. Let's say the bitrate of the file you want to reduce is 320 Kbps. To reduce the file size, you will have to decrease this value in the save settings.
Step 3
Open the file save settings window. To do this, use the Save Copy As command from the File menu. You can use the Save As command from the same menu.
Step 4
Select a location on your computer to save the compressed mp3 file. In the File Name field, enter a name.
You can save the modified file under the old name by adding the word copy to it. In other words, name the file you are saving so that by its name it is clear that this is not the original record, but a modified copy.
Step 5
Select mp3 from the File Type drop-down list.
Step 6
Configure the settings for the saved file. To do this, click on the Options button. It's to the right of the drop-down list.
Select the bitrate value from the drop-down list. If you only need to slightly reduce the size of the file and not lose much in its quality, select a bitrate value close to the original that you saw in the File info window. If you don't care about quality reduction, feel free to choose the bitrate value from the very top of the list. You can generally convert a stereo recording to mono by checking the Convert to Mono checkbox. Converting the recording to mono will also reduce the size of the saved file.
Step 7
Click on the OK button in the parameters of the mp3 codec settings and on the Save button in the file saving window. The task is completed, the mp3 file is reduced.
