There are situations where the media player on your computer, player or phone refuses to recognize the music file. This can be due to incorrect track name and extension. It is also sometimes required to convert the file to a suitable music format.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure your music playing application supports MP3 format. Also check the name of the file by right-clicking on it and choosing "Properties". It should look like "Track name.mp3" If the corresponding extension is missing, add it in the title. Also, if you are going to play a file on a computer, specify the appropriate application in the properties to launch it. If everything is done correctly, the file icon will change to the icon of the player intended to launch it.
Step 2
Change the file extension if, after renaming, it still does not play. To find out its exact format, check the source where the file was copied from: website, CD, etc. Perhaps the necessary data will be indicated there. For example, other common music formats are WAW, AC3, WMA, etc.
Step 3
Specify the correct file name required to play it in the player. Some programs, for example, do not support Cyrillic, as a result of which they simply do not recognize tracks. The title should be in English without the use of extraneous characters, punctuation marks, etc.
Step 4
Convert the file to another music format, if necessary to open it in a particular player. There are many programs designed for this, for example, Nero Soundtrax, Sound Forge, Blaze Media Pro, etc. All audio converters have an almost identical operating principle. Run the program, select the "File" item in the top menu, then "Open". In the explorer window, specify the path to the file to convert it. After downloading the file, select the "Save as …" menu item. In the window that appears, you will see the opportunity to select the appropriate music format, into which the track will be converted.
