ASUS equips most of its notebook models with webcams for video chatting on the Internet. The installed device is switched on by pressing the appropriate combination of keyboard buttons. Image adjustment can be performed both in the program in which you are broadcasting, and using a specialized utility.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the laptop and wait for the operating system installed on the device to start. Hold down the Fn key, which is located on the bottom row of keyboard buttons to the left of the Windows key. This button is responsible for using laptop functions and is used to turn on the camera.
Step 2
Without releasing Fn, press the key with the drawn camera icon. These can be buttons on the top row of the keyboard, for example F5. This button may be labeled differently depending on your laptop model. If you cannot find the camera power key, follow the instructions for using your computer.
Step 3
Some laptop and netbook models, such as the ASUS eeePC, have a dedicated switch for the camera, which is located just above the camera's peephole. This knob has two positions: ON and OFF. If you want to turn on the webcam, slide the shutter to the ON position. To turn off the shutter must be set to OFF.
Step 4
As part of the pre-installed software for ASUS notebooks, there is also a special Life Frame utility designed to control the device's camera. Often, the app will automatically launch after turning on the camera.
Step 5
If this program is not installed, install it from the disk that came with the laptop, or download the utility from the ASUS official website. After installation, you will see the corresponding shortcut on the system desktop. Life Frame allows you to take pictures and adjust the parameters of the images that are obtained when photographing or showing a video feed through the lens.
Step 6
If after purchasing a laptop you reinstall the operating system yourself, you will need to install drivers to use the webcam. Insert the driver disc into the device drive or download the required software from the ASUS official website. After installing the drivers, restart the laptop to apply the changes made to the system.
