"Flash drives" today are usually called two different types of devices used for storing and transferring data. Depending on which one contains your photos, copying them may require different reading devices connected to your computer. And the procedure itself for downloading to a hard drive from a connected flash drive is practically the same in both cases.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect a flash drive to the USB port if photos are stored on a USB flash drive. This is a device in a plastic case, about five centimeters long and half a centimeter thick, with a closed cap for the connection connector. This is the most common version, but there are many stylized options, decorated in a variety of ways. The only common feature for all is that flash drives of this type necessarily have a USB connector.

Step 2

After the flash drive is connected to the computer, the operating system will detect the new device and read the directory of the files it contains. Depending on the OS settings, immediately after that, a file manager window may open, which will reflect the contents of the flash drive. If this does not happen, then start the file manager of your operating system yourself. In Windows, you can do this by double-clicking on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop or by using the Win + E keyboard shortcut. In Explorer, open the root folder of the connected flash drive, select the photo files you want to copy and press the Ctrl + C keyboard shortcut. to put a list of them on the clipboard. Then open the folder on the hard drive of the computer where you want to place these files and press the key combination Ctrl + V. You can not use the clipboard, but simply drag the selected photos to the desired folder or to the desktop.

Step 3

If the photos are stored not on a USB drive, but on a flat flash card, then an additional device is needed to read it - a card reader. It is rarely installed in basic personal computer cases, and in laptops it is a little more common. If your computer does not have a card reader, you will have to purchase one separately. In this case, the device will have a cable for connecting to a USB connector on a computer. First you need to connect the device, and then insert the flash card into it. The procedure for copying photos in this case will not differ from the one described in the previous step.
