So, in front of you is one or more files, the format of which is not clear to you, and the system refuses to open them, no matter what program you choose. Open the folder with the file. If it is on your desk, start Windows Explorer by right-clicking the Start button and choosing Open Explorer (or File Explorer). In the menu on the left, find the "Desktop" folder.
Step 2
From the Tools menu, select Folder Options (or Folder Options). Go to the "View" tab and find the item "Hide extensions for registered file types" in the list of options. Uncheck the box next to this item, click "OK" and return to the folder with the file. Now three characters after the dot have been added to the file name - this is the file format (for example, mp3, jpg, pdf, dwg, etc.).

You can start solving the next problem - finding a program with which you can open this file. To do this, go to the site www.open-file.ru and in the field “Search for an extension on the site” enter the same three characters after the dot (extension) that define the file format. Click "Search" and the system will give an answer what kind of file it is and what program can open it.
