Step 1
If you just need to connect two computers to a local network, then use a network cable. Connect it to both PCs and configure the parameters of the network adapters. This method is not suitable if you need to connect computers to the Internet.
Step 2
Purchase a network hub and plug it into an electrical outlet. Use cables to connect your desktop computers to this equipment. Connect the Internet access cable to a free LAN connector.
Step 3
Turn on the first computer. Create and configure an internet connection. Now do the detailed configuration of the sharing options. Open the control panel and go to the "Network and Internet" menu. Open the Network and Sharing Center menu and select Change advanced sharing settings.
Step 4
Select an active network profile, for example home, and activate the "Enable network discovery" item by checking the box next to it. Find the item "Access to shared folders" and enable it. This is necessary to be able to make changes to public files while working from another computer. Disable password protected sharing.
Step 5
Perform the same setup on the second computer. Please note that only one computer can be connected to the Internet. If you need synchronous access to the network, then replace the switch with a router or conclude another contract with providers.
Step 6
If you have connected a printer or MFP to one of your computers, be sure to set up sharing for this device. This will make it easier for you to use the printer and eliminate the need to copy files before printing. Some MFPs can connect to a switch. This allows the device not to be tied to a specific PC, which must be turned on for the printer to be visible on the network.
