A shortcut is a shortcut icon for a program or file on your computer. Unlike an executable file, a shortcut contains only an image (icon), a name, and a link to the launch file. Usually, shortcuts are created for convenience, for example, on the desktop, so that every time you do not look for a folder with a frequently launched program.

Step 1
In order to create a shortcut anywhere on your PC, for example, on the desktop, right-click on it and select "New" in the context menu, and then "Shortcut".
Step 2
In the window that appears, you will need to enter the address where the executable file of your program is located, in other words, you must know in which folder the program was installed to which you want to make quick access through the shortcut. Usually programs are installed in the “C: / Program Files” folder. So, for example, the executable file of the Internet Explorer browser is located in the path “C: / Program Files / Internet Explorer / iexplore.exe”. executable files usually always have the extension “.exe”.
You can enter the address either manually or by selecting the "Browse …" option, which opens Windows Explorer for a more convenient search for the desired file. Once the launch file for the shortcut is found, click Next.
Step 3
The next step is the name of the shortcut. Enter the desired name, for example, "Game", and click the "Done" button. The shortcut will appear on the desktop. Please note that the shortcut differs from the real file in that an arrow-shaped icon is located in the lower left part of its icon.
