A shortcut for launching a program is a very handy thing. Many applications, even during installation, offer to create a launch shortcut on the desktop. If you either forgot or did not receive this offer, do not be discouraged, because you are quite capable of creating a shortcut yourself. How to do it?
Instructions
Step 1
Right-click on any free space on the desktop. A menu will appear in front of you. In it, select "Create" and then "Shortcut". After that, you will be taken to the shortcut creation dialog box. To make a shortcut icon, it is very important to correctly indicate the location of the original program launch icon.
Step 2
Click on the "Browse" button. Then follow the directory to the location of the original icon and double-click on it. Click the Finish button. The shortcut is created and ready to use. It will have the same icon as the original, so you can easily find it on your desktop.
Step 3
Right-click on the launch icon of the application you are interested in. You will see a menu. In it, select "Create shortcut". You can use this alternative method to create a shortcut icon without specifying a specific location for the program, since this address will be specified automatically.
Step 4
After you left-click on the "Create shortcut" item, the shortcut icon will appear in the same folder. You can drag it to any place convenient for you, and do not worry that it will not work after that. Place it, for example, on your desktop to speed up access to the application.
Step 5
Change the shortcut icon if you don't like it. This can be done as follows. Right-click on the shortcut, then, in the menu that appears, select "Properties". A window appears with information about the shortcut: the location of the original on the computer, etc. Find the Change Icon button. You will see a window with the original shortcut icon.
Step 6
Click on the "Browse" button and find the folder with other icons. These should be small pictures. Regular photographs cannot be used due to their large volume. If you don't have a suitable icon, download it on the Internet.
