A very popular storage format for media data is wav. Typically, wav files contain uncompressed or compressed audio tracks. In order to play wav, you can use the pre-installed Windows software, third-party players, as well as the capabilities of the operating system snap-in.
It is necessary
- - Windows Media Player application;
- - possibly access to the Internet, a browser and the right to install applications;
- - the right to change the sound schemes of Windows.
Instructions
Step 1
Play the wav file using the Windows Media Player application. This program is included by default in most distributions of operating systems of the Windows family.
Step 2
Start Windows Media Player. Use the shortcut to the application, which is usually found in the "Entertainment" section of the "Programs" section of the menu that opens when you click on the "Start" button in the taskbar.
Step 3
If you cannot find the shortcut, start Windows Media Player manually. Click on the "Start" button. Select "Run" from the menu that appears. In the Open text box of the Run Program dialog that appears, enter wmplayer. Click OK.
Step 4
In the window of the running player, press Ctrl + O or expand the "File" menu and click on the "Open …" item. Go to the directory with the wav file and select it in the list. Click the "Open" button. A playlist with the added file will be displayed on the right side of the application window. Double click on the desired item in the list. The content of the wav file will start playing.
Step 5
Listen to the wav file with the popular free Winamp media player. Download the distribution kit of the application from the official website by opening the address https://www.winamp.com/media-player in your browser. Then install it. Start Winamp.
Step 6
Press the L key or select File and Play File… from the application menu. In the dialog that appears, go to the directory with the file, select it and click the "Open" button. The wav file will start playing.
Step 7
Play wav file using Total Commander viewer. Open the directory with the file in one of the panels of this file manager. Highlight the file in the listing. Press F3. The Lister viewer window will open and the file will start playing.
Step 8
Play the wav file using the Windows sound editing functionality. Open the control panel. To do this, click on the "Start" button in the taskbar, select the "Settings" item in the menu and click on the "Control Panel" item.
Step 9
Open the audio settings dialog using the Sounds and Audio Devices shortcut. Click on the Sounds tab. In the Program Events list, select any item in any section. Click the Browse button.
Step 10
In the "Search for sound" dialog, go to the directory with the wav file, select it in the list and click the "Play sound" button located next to the "Check" inscription. After playing the file, click the "Cancel" buttons in the last two open dialogs.
