Making your own video is no longer the lot of owners of expensive video cameras. Now you can shoot videos with mobile phones and digital cameras. The clips are recorded digitally so that they can then be viewed on a computer.

Instructions

Step 1

To shoot a video with a mobile phone with a camera, first launch the corresponding application in it through the menu. It is built into the firmware and therefore does not require installation. It is usually called "Camera". On some devices, it can also be caused by long pressing the shutter button.

Step 2

Switch the app to video mode. To do this, find in its menu the item "Video" or similar. Press the shutter button and shooting begins. Press the same button to stop it. The finished video will be in 3GP format (mid-range and high-end devices can also support MP4 format). After saving it, do not forget to switch your phone back to the mode of taking photos by finding the item “Photo” or similar in the menu of the “Camera” application.

Step 3

To switch to the video mode of a digital camera, find the mode switch on it. Move it to the position indicated by the movie camera icon. Now you can start and stop shooting by pressing the shutter button. Most digital cameras save video files in MP4 format. Return the switch to "A" (auto-adjust photography) after shooting.

Step 4

Transfer video files to your computer using a cable that connects your phone or camera to the USB port. Older phones are connected with special types of cables, for example, Nokia devices have Pop-Port connectors for this. Modern phones are equipped with Micro-USB connectors, and almost all cameras are equipped with Mini-USB connectors. In modern versions of Linux and Windows, most phones and cameras are recognized as removable drives. If this does not happen, and the device that was recording has a removable memory card, use a card reader. Remember that before removing the card, the camera must be turned off, and in the phone, you must select the mode of safe removal of the media through the menu. In Nokia phones, to access this menu, briefly press the power button.

Step 5

Use MPlayer to watch videos - it works on both Linux and Windows and supports 3GP and MP4 formats. It is recommended to edit videos in the VirtualDub program. It exists only for Windows, so on Linux it will have to be run through the Wine emulator.
