Quite often, in all versions of operating systems of the Windows family, there is such a problem as an occasionally disappearing keyboard layout. Any actions to restore it using the Regional and Language Options applet do not work, because the reason for its disappearance lies elsewhere.

Instructions
Step 1
This problem has been observed since the release of the Windows XP operating system. Typically, this is due to the user accidentally deleting the panel from the taskbar. But in some cases, it disappears on its own. Some time after the appearance of this problem, it turned out that the small file ctfmon.exe is responsible for displaying layouts.
Step 2
To resume the layout, just place this file in the startup menu. Sometimes the cause of this problem is the unconscious deletion of a file from startup, because its purpose is unknown to most PC users. To view the startup menu, click the Start menu and select Run. In the window that opens, enter the msconfig command and press the Enter key.
Step 3
You will see the System Configuration Utility window. The list of startup applications you need is located on the Startup tab, go to it. Look through the entire list, if you see the ctfmon.exe file, activate it by putting a check mark in the line.
Step 4
Then click the Apply and Close buttons. In the dialog box that appears in front of you, select "Restart now". Do not forget to close all files in advance, saving all changes.
Step 5
After a new boot of the system, the language layout should appear in the taskbar, next to the system tray. But it so happens that this file is not in the startup menu at all, in this case it must be added. To do this, you need to create a text file in any text editor, preference should be given to advanced editors, for example, Notepad ++.
Step 6
Copy the following lines into a new document:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Run]
"CTFMON. EXE" = "C: / WINDOWS / system32 / ctfmon.exe"
Please note that we write the path to the executable file in the file. If your system is not installed in the Windows folder, you should make changes to the file being created. To save the file, click the "File" menu and select "Save As". In the window that opens, enter the name of the Run.reg file and click the "Save" button.
Step 7
Run the newly created file by double clicking on it with the left mouse button. In the window that opens, you will see a message about entering data into the system registry of the operating system, click the "Yes" button. After restarting the computer, the panel with the keyboard layout will be in its original place.
