Step 1
Open My Computer. Select the optical drive by right-clicking on it. A context menu will pop up. From this menu, select the "Properties" command. Then click on the "Hardware" tab. A window will open with the model name of your optical drive. The name is the name of the model, in the "Type" line there should be an inscription DVD / CD drives.
Step 2
If, in addition to the model, you need to find out additional characteristics of your optical drive, you will need a special program for monitoring and diagnosing your computer. Download AIDA64 Extreme Edition from the Internet. Install it on your computer and run it. Wait for the system hardware verification process to complete. After that, you will be taken to the main menu of the program.

Explore the program interface. The main menu is divided into two windows. In the left window, find the Information Storage component. There is an arrow opposite it. Click on this arrow with the left mouse button, after which a list with different types of devices will open. Select "Optical Drives" from this list.
Step 4
Now information about your optical drive will be displayed in the right window of the program. If you have several of them, there will be a list of drives at the very top of the window. Take a look at the Optical Drive Properties section. There, find the line "Device Description". It lists your optical drive model. In the same section, find the Manufacturer line for the manufacturer of your drive.
Step 5
Also in the program window there is information about the speed of writing and reading disks, the type of supported disks and the technologies that the drive supports. At the very bottom of the window there is a link to the official website of the device manufacturer and a link to the driver update page. In order to follow the link, double-click on it with the left mouse button. It will open in your internet browser window.
